Talking To: Vivaldi Colour Analysis and Style Consultancy
This time I talked to Evie from Vivaldi.
Ever had your colours done?
Maybe a while ago, let's say 3 decades ago..boy has colour analysis has a resurgence.
We all want to buy less and buy better, but how can we do this? By knowing our colours of course.
This equals less waste, more decisive shopping and less frustration.
Let's see what Evie has to say...
- Tell us a little about your path into colour and style consultancy, how did it all begin? My journey into the world of Colour and Style Consultancy, well, where to start! I learned that Colour Analysis was a thing, quite a number of years ago. I was working as a Dental Nurse, and a Dentist I was working with told me he and his wife had their colours done in Australia, many years prior. Ever since that day I knew I wanted to try it for myself. Eventually, I had the opportunity to get my colours and style done, in London. I came away from the consultation pretty enlightened, excited and desperate to change up my wardrobe. I wanted to feel girly and feminine, and until then, I didn’t know how, or at least, not entirely. 2022 was a challenging year for me. I experienced lot of unexpected, life-changing moments. And after a bit of soul searching, I knew I needed to change something – I wanted to find my life purpose. One day it came to me – Colour Analysis. It changed my life, and I knew I had the capacity to help others to experience this too. And so Vivaldi Colour & Style Consultancy was founded in the Spring of 2023, completing my Colour Analysis training in the February. After a very successful first year, and feeling completely overwhelmed with gratitude for all of the fantastic clients I had seen, I decided to invest in Style training, allowing me to offer Style Consultations from October 2024. It’s been the most wonderful journey, and I feel so grateful that I get to help transform people’s lives with the magic of Colour Analysis and Style. Taking a risk and reducing my hours in my NHS job has totally paid off, and I am so happy getting to do what I am passionate about for half of my working week.
- How does wearing the right colour benefit someone's daily life? With every client I get to see, I often get carried away with the endless list of benefits you can reap from Colour Analysis. The great thing about Colour Analysis is, it’s for anyone and everyone. Each and every client I see will walk away from their consultation knowing what their season is, and their very best colours (on average this ranges between 6 and 14 colours). Our skin is a colour, and what colour you wear adjacent to it, can have a huge impact on the way it (and you) appear. Some colours can make you look sallow, or ashy, tired, and washed out. And some colours (the right colours!) can make you look healthy, glowing, bright, your complexion looks smooth and even, your features are defined and your eyes more bright and sparkly. When you wear the right colours to enhance your appearance, you will feel more confident within yourself. Feeling confident is fundamental, and has a huge knock-on effect into so many areas of our lives – our work, our relationships, our social life. Once you discover your season and very best colours, you will find shopping a much more efficient and enjoyable experience, and feel safer to invest in items with higher price tags because A. they’re likely to be a much higher quality and will last longer, whilst B. knowing the colour will look fantastic on you, and will work in harmony with everything else in your wardrobe. You’ll quickly realise that the investment of Colour Analysis far outweighs the wasted money spent on buying clothes which you’ve only worn once, and then thrown away because ‘it didn’t look or feel right’.
- What would you say to someone that just LOVES hot pink but really shouldn't wear it, how can they incorporate their favourite colours into their wardrobe? Really good question. I have two answers for this, and it ties in nicely to one of the questions I ask all of my clients before we begin their consultation. If you have a colour which you are naturally very drawn to, and you need in your life… here’s two things to take away. If that colour does not sit within your season, remember this: We can love a colour, and be drawn to it, but we might not always look our best wearing it. Perhaps it’s too garish? Does it wash you out? Do you turn sallow, or even grey and icy? I’m naturally very drawn to my seasonal palette, but I’ve got to say there are other colours I love (Fuschia, Hyacinth, a few pastels…). Secondly, you can find ways to incorporate the colour you love into your life, in other ways. As a rule of thumb, I advise my clients that with patterns, they want to stick to a 70-80% majority of their seasonal colours. Meaning the other 30-20% can be made up of other colours. Providing the garment is in your seasonal colours for the most part, you’re pretty safe. Avoid 50/50, unless they’re both in your season of course (i.e. Black and White would be fine for a Winter). So this is one way of trying to add very subtle, tiny pops of your favourite colour, into your clothes. Or, bring that colour into your life in other ways. I often suggest, a new phone case, a journal, a piece of artwork, a blanket, a keyring, or even going as far as redecorating an entire room. We can still appreciate and obsess over our favourite colours, even if they don’t look great ON us. Hot pink sofa?... *googles hot pink sofa*
- You've just launched a style consultancy service too, what will someone learn during their time with you? Yes, my Style Consultancy services are now live! I have my first clients this week, and have quite a lot of people booked in for it which is exciting! Colour Analysis and Style are completely different consultations, but both work exceptionally well combined. Sort of like a Cup of Tea and Biscuits – equally necessary and wonderful, but in my opinion, sublime together! At a Style Consultation, I take a client on a bit of a journey. I will look at their face shape, body shape, side profile, measure their height and proportions, and then move on to a personality profile. The personality profile asks questions to gain a deeper insight into the individual’s personality, and these answers, combined with the previous data collected, helps me to identify their Style Personality! Once I know a client’s Style Personality, I can talk them through the overall aesthetic and then explore everything from the most suitable necklines, jewellery, styles of dress, skirt, jacket, shoes etc. I will even cover other vital information such as how to budget for your wardrobe, dressing for authority, how to find inspiration and wardrobe maintenance. With the Style Consultancy service that I offer, I am looking at the client and what works best for them, it’s not about what’s ‘in fashion’ and making that work for you. I want all of my clients to understand how to enhance their best features, and feel confident to honour that when they are shopping – not confused by what’s on-trend or what they are being influenced to purchase. Knowing your Style, also helps you to realise why certain styles just don’t work for you (i.e. why an oversized blazer doesn’t work for you, and how swapping that for a different style of jacket can completely transform your appearance).

- Our Twilly neckerchiefs have just launched online, which is your favourite and how will you be wearing yours? Quite possibly my favourite accessory of 2024. I have been itching to get my hands on one of your Twilly neckerchiefs. Your Lotus Twilly in Green is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The intricate hand-drawn design, the silk, and of course the colours – perfect for an Autumn like me! I have worn it in my hair, tying it around my ponytail, and around my neck to bring a pop of colour to my outfits. I always tell my clients how transformative scarves are. They can bring so much colour to an outfit, in seconds. Keeping in neutral? Throw on a scarf. They just brighten any outfit, and I think make people smile. Your designs are beautifully bright, fun, sometimes pretty electric, and eye-catching, but always maintain class and elegance. Your Lotus Twilly would also look fantastic tied on to a handbag, through belt loops, or, as a perfect last-minute replacement when your partner needs a pocket square to create some interest with a neutral suit. Fantastic gift for anyone at Christmas, and they come in the prettiest gift boxes too.
